Organisations can now move data more quickly and effectively thanks to an innovative new software product.
Cellular Solutions has launched Migrator, which promises to revolutionise data transfer for businesses.
Migrator is a cloud-based solution which allows data from multiple sources and different file types to be quickly and easily interpreted and uploaded to finance and CRM systems such as Sage CRM, Sage 50cloud and Sage 200cloud through a single portal.
This eliminates the requirement for businesses to implement add-ons to their software every time they need to upload a set of bespoke data and allows companies to save time and resources when transferring data.
Migrator has been designed to be used on multiple devices and platforms, and data can either be uploaded using automatic scheduling or manually, through a user accessing the system – for instance via a laptop – and uploading data instantly through an online portal.
The product allows for visible data transfer and quickly identifies errors, enabling users to correct them and ensure that accurate information is uploaded more rapidly.
It has been designed to interpret data from numerous file types including XML files, CSV files and text documents.
Migrator has been created using an agnostic development platform that was developed by Cellular Solutions with the University of Sunderland as part of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP). The KTP was rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Innovate UK, the UK’s innovation agency, which is sponsored by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy.
Derek Curtis, director of business systems at Cellular Solutions, said: “We’re proud to be launching Migrator into the market. The product has huge potential and its ability to provide a simple, cost effective method of transferring data to Sage software will make a major impact for businesses – especially those whose operations regularly involve collecting, collating and accessing large amounts of complex data, and where that data is collected from multiple sources such as via telephone call records or via mobile devices by staff working off site.
“The Knowledge Transfer Partnership with Sunderland University – and the agnostic development platform which resulted from that project – has been a key factor in the creation of Migrator and is an excellent example of how the private sector can work with higher education institutions to shape innovative new solutions.”
Mike Bowers, managing director at Cellular Solutions, added: “The introduction of Migrator demonstrates that at Cellular Solutions, we have the technological expertise and capabilities to support today’s businesses in overcoming challenges. We’re looking forward to helping companies save valuable time and resources through the implementation of this software.”
Steve Knight, chief operating officer at the University of Sunderland, said: “Our Knowledge Transfer Partnership with Cellular Solutions was rated ‘Outstanding’ by Innovate UK, not only achieving its aim but also rationalising software development and management processes.
“It was an excellent opportunity for the academic staff to engage with the industry and test their experience and their knowledge. The KTP programme aims to help UK businesses to improve their competitiveness and productivity through the better use of knowledge, technology and skills that reside within the University of Sunderland.
“We are thrilled to be part of Cellular Solution’s scale-up journey as we continue our successful engagement with the industry.”
