Does your Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) provider have your business’ best interests in mind? Are you getting the best value for your needs? Are they on your side?
Cellular Solutions’ business manager and digital products specialist, Rob Reid highlights some tell-tale signs which could indicate you’re using the wrong provider…
Here’s the checklist….
1. They don’t assess your broadband connection
One of the main benefits of using VoIP is that it enables your phone service to be delivered via the internet opposed to a service provided though a telephone line. With this said, it is crucial that when switching to VoIP, your provider checks that your network is VoIP-ready – this includes examining your internet service and the expected VoIP usage. It is a major ‘red flag’ when this crucial step is being missed by your provider and they don’t even do as much as ask about it…
Is your internet connection fit for VoIP?
2. They mislead you about service and support levels
As consumers we are used to sales professionals making pretty bold claims about their products or services. It’s only natural that we check the credibility of the statements and promises made by a potential provider. Before you sign up, do your research and test your provider’s support line to check response times and the level of customer service. Another helpful alternative is to ask to speak to other clients of similar size and hear their feedback.
3. ‘Perfect’ customer rating
‘Fake’ reviews are another major sign that the provider in question may not be as reliable as it makes out to be. No service provider is perfect, however some less reliable providers tend to go a bit too far to hide that fact by ONLY having positive reviews, painting a not so realistic picture of the quality of their service.
The same rule would also apply if there are mainly bad reviews and a couple of ‘five stars.’
4. You are told they can beat any other price
Often a quality provider cannot offer the lowest price without cutting corners and this has an impact on the quality of the service you receive. As a result of getting ‘the best price on the market’ key features can be missed – therefore, it’s important that as a business you know why they’re ‘considerably cheaper’ than other providers who have quoted for the same job.
5. Contracts and penalties
Make sure to read the fine print if you intend to sign a contract – watch out for any information that specifies penalties for service cancellation, hardware or unused service. If any of these do not suit you (if present at all) – another provider might be a better fit for your needs.
